Find Back-to-School Solutions
Preparing your kids to go back to school can be time-consuming and stressful. Planning meals, cleaning up the house, and keeping everyone healthy isn’t simple. So we’ve offered up some solutions for your most hectic time of year.
PROBLEM: There’s just no time for cleaning when the kids are in school.
SOLUTION: Work as a team and be well-equipped. Designate a family member to each cleaning task—they can each hold multiple responsibilities, such as taking out the trash and doing the dishes. Make it a part of your family’s everyday routine to clean up. Create a weekly schedule or cleaning wheel that rotates every month to show which family member’s turn it is to help with a certain task, like sweeping or folding laundry. And make a rule that the kids must clean their rooms at a certain time every day—right after school or before bed are two good times to choose.
Keep an arsenal of the best cleaning supplies ready for whenever you need them. For kitchen floors, use MOP & GLO® Triple Action™ Floor Shine Cleaner. And when you need to quickly refresh (like if someone forgot that it was their turn to take out the trash), use AIR WICK® Aerosol Spray. Don’t forget GLASS PLUS® for streak-free windows and mirrors.

PROBLEM: Back-to-school means extra germs—I don’t want my family getting sick.
SOLUTION: Disinfect your home to eliminate illness-causing germs and teach your family how to prevent getting sick. It’s easier than you think—use LYSOL® Disinfectant Sprays and Wipes around your home to help eliminate and prevent germs that lead to colds and the flu. Using these products effectively kills 99.9% of viruses, including influenza, Rhinovirus, RSV and Rotavirus. Remember to regularly disinfect germy hotspots, like doorknobs, toys, phones, and sink faucets. |
| Emphasize the importance of hand washing. It’s one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of germs. Tell them to make it a habit to wash their hands before eating, after using the bathroom, and after coming into contact with someone who is sick or something that person has touched. Also, encourage your family to eat healthy—fruits and vegetables have the nutrients to aid immune systems—drink plenty of water, and get lots of rest. |

PROBLEM: I don’t have time to cook dinner during the week.
SOLUTION: Plan ahead and have easy to make recipes on hand.
Every Sunday, write down what you will prepare each night for the coming week. Take note of which ingredients you already have, and which ones you need to pick up at the grocery store. If you can, buy all of those ingredients on Sunday so you’re not doing last-minute weeknight shopping. Have lots of recipes nearby so you are never unsure about what to make. Need some recipe ideas?
