EASY-ON® Spray Starch

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can EASY-ON® Spray Starch scorch my garments?

A:   We would like to assure you that EASY-ON® Spray Starch itself will not cause scorching or sticking.  In both starched and unstarched fabrics scorching or sticking indicates the iron is on the wrong temperature.  The iron may either be too cool or too hot.  If too cool, the iron cannot glide and becomes sticky; if too hot the iron adheres to the spot, scorching both the starch and the fabric.

Q:   Can scorch stains be removed?

A:   Try washing the item using laundry detergent, hot water, and chlorine bleach if it is safe for the fabric.  Otherwise, soak in an oxygen bleach such as VIVID® Color Safe Bleach, hot water and launder as usual.

Q:   Why does starch stick to my iron?

A:   This indicates that the iron is on the wrong temperature.

Steps to Prevention:

  1. Always begin ironing with a clean soleplate.  Soil on the soleplate may attract starch particles.  Both soil and starch may then be transferred to the garment.
  2. Check your temperature control, and make sure it is set properly to the particular garment (ALWAYS refer to care instructions on garment).
  3. Avoid overly wet spots of starch.  Irons cannot glide when an area is too wet.
  4. Avoid heavy applications.
  5. Always allow starch to penetrate fabric before iron touches garment (about 10 - 15 seconds).

Q:   How can I clean a soleplate that has starch build-up?

A:   Slight soil may be removed by running a warm iron over craft paper a few times.  Finish by running the iron across waxed paper to reinvest its normal "gliding" action.  For heavily soiled or starch-encrusted soleplates, let the iron cool (to avoid the danger of burns), then clean the soleplate by gently rubbing it with a fine grade of steel wool.  Steel wool may be used with or without soap and water.  When the soleplate is clean, run the warm iron across waxed paper as suggested above.

Q:   Why does my iron stick to fabric?

A:   There may be a few reasons why this could be happening.  One may be the temperature is not correct for that particular fabric.  If you feel the iron is correctly set, you may be over applying the starch.  Lastly, you may not be giving the starch a chance to penetrate into the fabric.  Allow 10 - 15 seconds time for the starch to soak into the garment.

Q:   How can I prevent clogging of the EASY-ON® Spray Starch can?

A:   To prevent clogging, remove push button and rinse it in warm water after each use.  Make sure that the push button is completely dry before putting it back onto the can.  This will prevent water from trapping on the top and causing rust to form.  When replacing, line up the black dot with the red dot.

Q:   Why does starch flake?

A:   Product flaking may be caused by a number of things.  One reason may be the iron setting.  A wrong setting can cause product to flake.  To help prevent flaking, avoid heavy applications of starch.  Over saturating any area with starch sometimes causes a noticeable foam that can flake when dry.  Next, you should always allow the starch to penetrate the fabric for about 10 -15 seconds before the iron touches the garment.  Light applications of starch will soak into the fabric almost instantly while heavy applications will take a little longer.  Lastly, shake can vigorously before each application.

Q:   Can EASY-ON® Spray Starch cause fabrics to melt?

A:   No.  This type of damage is caused by an iron that is too hot for the fabric being ironed.  Check the care label for recommended procedures.  Often a cool iron is recommended.

Q:   What is starch and what are its benefits?

A:   Starch adds a finishing touch to the laundering process and supplies body to fabrics.

Q:   What is the difference between regular and heavy duty starch?

A:   The difference between regular and heavy duty starch is the amount of starch in each.
EASY-ON® Speed Starch makes ironing easier and faster.  After use, your fabrics will have a crisp professional look.

EASY-ON® Double Starch provides a professional looking, long lasting finish with extra crispness.  After use, your fabrics will look super crisp and stay that way longer.  Helps give heavier fabrics such as collars, cuffs, linen and denim a sharp professional look.
