VIVID® Color Safe Bleach

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can VIVID® Color Safe Bleach be used in a High Density (HD) machine?

A:   Yes, but use half of the amount indicated in the directions.

Q:   Does VIVID® Color Safe Bleach contain optical brighteners?

A:   VIVID® Color Safe Bleach contains whitening agents which help clothes keep their brightness.

Q:   Is VIVID® Color Safe Bleach safe for all washables?

A:   VIVID® Color Safe Bleach is safe for all colorfast fabrics.  If a care label states "use no bleach" then the product should not be used.  If in doubt, or there is no care label in the garment, VIVID® Color Safe Bleach should be tested inconspicuously on a hidden area and checked after five minutes.

Q:   Does the VIVID® Color Safe Bleach contain a bluing ingredient?

A:   No, there are no bluing ingredients in VIVID® Color Safe Bleach.

Q:   Can chlorine bleach be mixed with VIVID® Color Safe Bleach?

A:   No, Chlorine bleach should not be used in conjunction with Ultra VIVID® Color Safe Bleach.

Q:    How does VIVID® Color Safe Bleach work?

A:   VIVID® Color Safe Bleach is an oxygen bleach which releases oxygen instead of chlorine.  Through oxidation, laundry bleaches convert soil into more soluble colorless particles that get carried away by detergents and wash water.

Q:   Can I use Ultra VIVID® Color Safe Bleach in a front loading machine?

A:    Yes, you may use VIVID® Color Safe Bleach in a front loading machine, however, we suggest using one half amount of product.

Q:    How much do I use for a washload?

A:   Using the 50 oz .cap, fill between line 2 and 3.
Using the 100 oz. cap, fill ¼ inch below line 3.

Q:   Why does VIVID® Color Safe Bleach seem to affect some colors, particularly khaki?

A.   This is due to the khaki dyes themselves, not all khaki dyes are colorfast.  Therefore, some detergents will affect some khaki colored items.  The product should be tested inconspicuously on a hidden area and checked after five minutes

Q:   Can VIVID® Color Safe Bleach cause some white clothing to yellow?

A:   There are no ingredients in VIVID® Color Safe Bleach which can cause yellowing.  In certain cases washing fabrics in water containing high iron levels could result in the build-up of iron compounds which can cause a yellow discoloration.  Fabrics can become discolored by the absorption of iron from the water in which it was laundered.  If a care label states "no bleach" even using a color-safe bleach could produce adverse affects.

Q:    What is the difference between Oxygen bleach and Chlorine bleach?

A:       Chlorine bleach is an agent used to remove color.  There is no Chlorine in VIVID® Color Safe Bleach.  The Oxygen bleach present in VIVID® Color Safe Bleach is safe for colored clothes.

VIVID® Color Safe Bleach is an oxygen bleach which releases oxygen instead of chlorine when added to water.  The reaction of oxygen bleach is milder than chlorine bleach.  Therefore, oxygen bleach can be used safely on many fabrics and most colors.

Q:    If the care label says "no bleach" can VIVID® Color Safe Bleach be used?

A:      Oxygen bleach is safe for most colored fabrics.  However, if the care label states "no bleach", do not use any type of bleach on the garment.
