Home and Surface Care: Metal Polishes
NOXON® 7 Metal Polish

|
Q: Is this product water or solvent based?
A: NOXON® 7 Multi-Purpose Metal Polish is a combination of water and solvent based.
Q: Are there detergents in NOXON®?
A: There is a very small amount of detergent in NOXON® to clean and suspend tarnish.
Q: Is it safe to use NOXON® on sterling silver surfaces?
A: No. NOXON® may not be used on sterling silver surfaces. The product should only be used on surfaces listed on the container, which include, stainless steel, aluminum, chrome, pewter, brass, bronze and copper. Other surfaces, such as sterling silver, have not been tested with NOXON® 7 Multi-Purpose Metal Polish. Therefore, we cannot recommend using it. We recommend SILVO ® Metal Polish for use on sterling silver surfaces.
Q: When NOXON® is caked on a surface, what is the best way to remove it?
A: We recommend using a soft toothbrush and fresh NOXON® to remove the hard, caked-on old application of NOXON®. Newly applied NOXON® will dissolve and disperse the caked-on NOXON®. Please be sure to rinse thoroughly with warm water immediately after the reapplication and brushing to remove both the old and new coats of NOXON® before it dries. You may also use paint thinner to remove caked-on NOXON®. Please use caution when using paint thinner.
Q: When NOXON® is used on a pure bronze surface, it darkens the surface. What may have caused this appearance and what can be done to restore it?
A: Bronze has a natural tendency to oxidize and darken in color, even if it has been cleaned and polished, it will eventually darken again. Also, if the surface has a lacquer on it, you may also notice that the surface will appear darker. You may remove the lacquer with an acetone solvent and then reapply NOXON® to restore the natural shine.
Q: If NOXON® is safe for use on copper, why would it streak a copper surface?
A: NOXON® is safe for pure copper surfaces and will not cause streaking after use. If streaking occurs, it is likely that the surface is copper plated. If NOXON® is used on copper plated surfaces, streaking can occur. A solvent cleaner may remove the streaking
Q: Why does brass tarnish over a period of time, even after cleaning?
A: Tarnishing can occur due to may environmental factors such as humidity and pollution. If the item has been coated in lacquer it should not be cleaned with NOXON or any metal polish as it can damage the lacquer.
Q: Is NOXON® safe for use on ceramic surfaces?
A: We do not recommend using NOXON® on ceramic surfaces since the product has not been tested for that specific use.
Q: Where can I find the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for NOXON®?
A: Please visit reckittprofessional.com for the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
