ZUD® Multi-Purpose and Heavy Duty Cleansers

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What surfaces can ZUD® Heavy Duty Cleanser be used on?

Q:  What surfaces can ZUD® Multi-Purpose Cleanser be used on?

Q:  If ZUD® is used on sinks and drains, will it remove the finish or change the appearance of the surface?

A:  There are no ingredients in ZUD® which can cause this condition.  We do, however, recommend not to leave ZUD® on a stainless steel sink, or any stainless steel or plated surface, for more than a minute or two before rubbing and rinsing with water. (Follow directions on label for difficult stains.)

Q:  Is ZUD® safe for septic tanks?

A:  Yes, ZUD® is safe for septic tanks.

Q:  Will ZUD® cause a stainless steel stove to become dull and spotted?

A:  Although the product does contain a weak oxalic acid, this should not cause the surface to become stained or pitted.  We do, however, recommend not to leave ZUD® on a stainless steel sink, or any stainless steel or plated surface, for more than a minute or two before rubbing and rinsing with water. (Follow directions on label for difficult stains.)

Q:  Why would ZUD® leave a very dull appearance on a ceramic tile floor after use?

A:  If the tiles on the ceramic floor are soft, sensitive, or fragile, the tile will have a dull appearance, especially if the abrasive particles from ZUD® have not been fully removed.  We recommend using a floor cleaner, suitable for your floor type.  Use the floor cleaner according to directions and rub briskly.  This will remove the remaining residue from ZUD®.

Q:  If ZUD® is safe for stainless steel, why did it leave a dark stain on my stainless steel sink?

A:  The product may have been left on the surface for too long.  We recommend using a stainless steel polish, such as Noxon® or Brasso® Metal Polish, to remove the dark stains from the surface of the sink.  Please follow all directions as listed on the label when using Noxon® or Brasso® Metal Polish.

Q:  Is it possible for ZUD to leave black spots on the porcelain finish of bathroom fixtures, specifically the tub?

A:  There are no ingredients in ZUD® which would leave black spots on porcelain surfaces.  ZUD® has been thoroughly tested to safely remove rust and stains from porcelain surfaces.  However, when the surface of the porcelain tub becomes worn and thin, the cast iron beneath the porcelain finish may become exposed, which would give the appearance of black spots on the surface.
